How to install Safy on your computer
By the end: Safy is installed on your computer and opens on the "Welcome to Safy AI" screen.
Before you start
- A Windows or Mac computer. Mac needs macOS 12 or later.
- Safy installs on a computer only — not on a phone.
- An internet connection.
Safy is a computer app. You download it from the download page on the website, which detects your operating system automatically. Choose your computer type below.
Windows
- On the download page, make sure "Windows" is selected.
- Click "Download for Windows".
- Open the downloaded file (Safy Setup).
- Wait for the installation to finish — it runs on its own, with no questions. On Windows it can take a few minutes, so be patient and don't close it midway.
- Safy opens automatically when the installation ends. Next time, open it from the "Safy" shortcut on your desktop.
If Windows shows a blue SmartScreen window: don't click "Don't run". Click More info, then Run anyway.
If the file is "blocked": right-click it, choose Properties, tick Unblock and click OK. Then open it again.
Mac
- Check which chip your Mac has: in the Apple menu, choose "About This Mac".
- If it says Apple M1 to M5, choose Apple Silicon. If it says Intel, choose Intel.
- Click the matching download button.
- Open the DMG you downloaded.
- Drag Safy into the Applications folder.
- Open Safy from the Applications folder.
Safy must run from the Applications folder. If you open it directly from the DMG, you'll see the message "Move Safy to Applications" and the app will close.
If macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway next to Safy.
How to know it worked
Safy opens on the "Welcome to Safy AI" screen, with the buttons "I Have a Code" and "Verify with Phone Number". From there, continue to signing in.
If it doesn't work
- Installation taking a few minutes on Windows? That's normal — among other things, antivirus software scans the file while it installs. Wait for it to finish and don't run the file again.
- Seeing "Move Safy to Applications" on a Mac? Drag Safy into the Applications folder and open it from there.
- Opened the download page on your phone? Safy installs on a computer only. Copy the link and open it on your computer.
