The Advanced menu: logs, restarting and resetting
By the end: You'll know when to use each option in the Advanced menu, and what each one deletes (or doesn't).
Before you start
- Safy is running on your computer.
The Advanced menu is in the Safy icon menu: click the icon in the taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac), and choose Advanced.
Sending logs to support
- Click the Safy icon and choose Advanced.
- Choose Send Logs to Support.
- Wait for the "Logs Sent" message.
Today's and yesterday's logs are sent to the Safy support team. After sending, email us at info@safyai.com with what happened and when, so we know what to look for.
All the options in the menu
- View Logs — opens the logs folder on your computer. Useful if support asked for a specific file.
- Send Logs to Support — sends the logs to support, as described above.
- Restart WhatsApp Session — removes the saved WhatsApp connection, and you'll need to scan a new QR code from your child's phone. Your account, settings and history are kept.
- Restart App — closes Safy and opens it again. Your data isn't affected.
- Factory Reset — permanently deletes all local data: children, messages, alerts, settings and the WhatsApp connection. After the reset you'll need to sign in again and rescan the QR code. This can't be undone.
- Debug Mode — a tool for the support team. Don't turn it on unless asked to.
What Factory Reset doesn't do
- It doesn't cancel your subscription or delete your account on the website.
- It doesn't remove Safy from "Linked Devices" in your child's WhatsApp. After the reset, it's worth deleting the old device there.
When to use what
- Any problem — first try Restart App.
- WhatsApp won't connect even after retrying — Restart WhatsApp Session. See WhatsApp disconnected.
- The problem continues — Send Logs to Support and email us.
- Factory Reset — only if support recommended it, because it deletes everything.
How to know it worked
After Send Logs to Support, you see the "Logs Sent" message.
If it doesn't work
- Seeing "Send Logs Failed"? Check your internet connection and try again.
- Seeing "No log files found for the last 2 days"? There are no logs from the last two days. Open Safy, repeat whatever caused the problem, and send again.
- Can't find the Safy icon? On Windows it may be hidden behind the ^ arrow in the taskbar.
