WhatsApp disconnected or the QR code won't scan
By the end: Your child's WhatsApp is reconnected to Safy, and the status is back to "Connected".
Before you start
- Your child's phone is with you and connected to the internet.
- Safy is open on the computer.
When the connection drops, Safy first tries to reconnect on its own. If that doesn't work, you need to scan a QR code again from your child's phone.
Step 1: Let Safy try on its own
If you see "Please wait..." with a countdown, Safy is trying to reconnect. Wait until the countdown ends.
Step 2: Reconnect with a QR code
- On the "WhatsApp" card, click "Restart WhatsApp Connection". You can also click "Reconnect" on your child's card.
- On your child's phone, open WhatsApp.
- Go to "Linked Devices" and tap "Link a Device".
- Point the camera at the QR code on the computer.
- Wait for the "Connected!" message.
If the scan doesn't work
- Fully close WhatsApp on your child's phone, and reopen it.
- Make sure the phone is connected to the internet.
- Make sure the bottom of the Safy screen shows "Internet".
- Scan again.
How to know it worked
The "WhatsApp" card and your child's card both show "Connected".
If it doesn't work
- Did the connection drop after someone removed the computer from "Linked Devices" on your child's phone? That disconnects Safy. Scan a new QR code as in step 2.
- Was the computer asleep? Safy reconnects on its own when the computer wakes up. Wait a minute and check again.
- Nothing helps? Click the Safy icon in the taskbar or menu bar and choose Advanced → Restart WhatsApp Session. After that, you'll need to scan a new QR code.
- Still not working? In the same menu choose Advanced → Send Logs to Support, and email us at info@safyai.com. See The Advanced menu.
