Keeping Safy running and up to date
By the end: Safy keeps monitoring in the background, and you have the latest version installed.
Before you start
- Safy is installed on your computer.
Safy monitors only while the computer is on and awake and the app is running. The window doesn't need to be open — it's enough for the app to run in the background.
Closing the window
Closing the window doesn't turn Safy off. It keeps running in the background, and its icon stays in the taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac). To open the window again, click the icon and choose Show Window.
The only way to fully exit Safy is Quit in the icon menu. After quitting, monitoring stops.
Shutting down and sleep
- While the computer is asleep, monitoring stops. When the computer wakes up, Safy reconnects on its own.
- Safy doesn't open by itself when you turn on the computer. After a restart, open Safy.
- For continuous monitoring, set the computer not to sleep while it's plugged in.
Updating the app
Safy downloads updates on its own in the background. When you see "Safy Update Ready", click the Safy icon and choose Restart to Install. Full details: How to update Safy.
How to know it worked
The Safy icon menu shows a Version line with the version number, and there's no Restart to Install item waiting.
If it doesn't work
- Can't find Safy after closing the window? It's running in the background. Click its icon and choose Show Window.

- Monitoring stops at night? The computer probably goes to sleep. Change the computer's sleep settings.
