How to connect your child's WhatsApp to Safy
By the end: Your child's WhatsApp is connected to Safy, and you can start receiving alerts within a minute.
Before you start
- You've signed up and signed in to the Safy app on your computer.
- Your child's phone is with you and connected to the internet.
- Your child already has an active WhatsApp account on that phone.
- Your child's WhatsApp account is not set up as a Parent-Managed Account. On such an account WhatsApp removes the "Link a Device" option, so it can't be connected to Safy.
The last setup step is connecting your child's WhatsApp to Safy — just like connecting WhatsApp Web, by scanning a QR code. Choose your child's phone type below and follow the matching steps.
Android
- Open WhatsApp on your child's Android phone.
- Tap the 3-dot menu ⋮ at the top right.
- Tap "Linked Devices".
- Tap "Link a Device".
- Point the camera at the QR code on the Safy screen.
iPhone
- Open WhatsApp on your child's iPhone.
- Tap "Settings" at the bottom right.
- Tap "Linked Devices".
- Tap "Link a Device".
- Point the camera at the QR code on the Safy screen.
After scanning, wait a few seconds. When the connection succeeds, you'll see "🎉 WhatsApp Connected!" and be taken to the dashboard automatically.
How to know it worked
The Safy screen shows "🎉 WhatsApp Connected!" and takes you to the dashboard automatically within a few seconds. From there, continue to Connected — what happens now?.
If it doesn't work
- Scanned and nothing happened? Fully close WhatsApp on your child's phone, reopen it and scan again.
- No "Linked Devices" or "Link a Device" option in your child's WhatsApp? The account is probably set up as a Parent-Managed Account. On such an account WhatsApp doesn't allow linking devices, so it can't be connected to Safy.
- Did the connection drop later? See WhatsApp disconnected or the QR code won't scan.
