How to uninstall Safy from your computer
By the end: Safy is removed from the computer, and the computer is no longer linked to your child's WhatsApp.
Before you start
- Your child's phone, to remove the computer from "Linked Devices".
Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel your subscription and doesn't disconnect your child's WhatsApp by itself. So there are three parts: close Safy, remove it, and unlink the device on your child's phone.
Step 1: Close Safy
- Click the Safy icon in the taskbar or menu bar.
- Choose Quit.
Step 2: Remove it on Windows
- Open Windows "Settings".
- Go to "Apps" → "Installed apps".
- Find Safy and click "Uninstall".
- Confirm and wait for it to finish.
Step 2: Remove it on Mac
- Open the Applications folder.
- Drag Safy to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash.
Step 3: Unlink the device in your child's WhatsApp
- On your child's phone, open WhatsApp.
- Go to "Linked Devices".
- Tap the Safy device and choose "Log out".
Deleting data left on the computer (optional)
Uninstalling leaves Safy's local data on the computer, so it comes back if you reinstall. To delete it too, delete these folders:
- Windows: the Safy folder inside %APPDATA%, and the Safy folder inside %LOCALAPPDATA%.
- Mac: the folders ~/Library/Application Support/Safy and ~/Library/Logs/Safy, and the hidden folder ~/.safy.
What about my subscription?
Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel your subscription. To cancel it, see Account and subscription.
How to know it worked
Safy no longer appears in your apps list, and the Safy device no longer appears under "Linked Devices" in your child's WhatsApp.
If it doesn't work
- Uninstall fails on Windows or says the app is open? Close Safy using Quit in the icon menu and try again.
- Can't find the ~/.safy folder on a Mac? It's hidden. In Finder, press Cmd+Shift+. to show hidden files.
